From an early age, Einstein excelled at physics and mathematics. He was extremely advanced for his age and by the time he was twelve, he began teaching himself algebra, calculus and geometry.
By his thirteenth birthday, Einstein had discovered an original proof of the Pythagorean theorem.
After failing to meet the required standard on the entrance exam to the Federal polytechnic school, Einstein was eventually accepted and did graduate in 1900, certified in teaching physics and mathematics.
Einstein applied for Swiss citizenship and was approved. However, the Swiss military found him unfit for service. He spent two years applying to teach in the Swiss school system. However, they also found him unfit to teach.
In spite of all these rejections, Einstein went on to be considered one of the most influential scientists in history. His name is now synonymous with genius.
