Whenever Winehouse was in trouble at school, she would sing Fly Me to The Moon as she walked to see the headmistress. Despite the school shenanigans, Winehouse went on th become a success. She is ranked 26th on the VH1 list of 100 Greatest Women in Music.
Winehouse was surrounded by many a musician growing up. Her paternal grandmother had been a singer. She and Amy’s parents influenced Amy’s interest in jazz. Her grandmother even suggested to Amy that she attend school for vocal education. While at Sushi Earnshaw Theater School, Winehouse formed a rap group called Sweet ’n’ Sour.
By the age of fourteen, Amy began writing music and playing guitar. She started writing for The World Entertainment News Network and singing in another band. Her best friend sent her demo tape to an A&R person. In 2008, Amy won five Grammy awards.
Though incredibly talented, Amy doubted her talent and had a negative self-image. She, also, suffered from fear of abandonment.
Never doubt yourself. Never give up.
“If you don’t throw yourself into something you’ll never become what you could have been.” – Winehouse
